There is so much wrongness with this quote.
1) Just because people obey social norms and customs in their day to day life does not mean they are selling their souls. Everyone is different but most people do not feel the need to push their individuality or desires on to others, partly because other people may find it upsetting or rude. That is why we have social norms, so that we don't force other people to take part in something they don't want to see or be a part of. For instance nude statues, not everyone wants to see them which is why they are not aloud to be built in public places.
2) It could be argue that Howard Roark sold his soul in his vain and ego driven decision not to compromise on his work. The fact that he was not even willing to listen to the customer, who would actually own the building he was designing, shows just how much of an extremist he was. He even blew up one of the buildings he designed because the customer made a couple of changes despite agreeing not too. Now I understand why he would be upset, the customer did agree to build it the Roark designed it, but that does not mean Roark has the right to endanger lives or property. He could have sued the costumer for breach of contract or something. But nope, Roark instead sold his soul to the lunatic fairy in exchange for be being blinded by his ego.
3) Objectivism is a cult like group founded by the Fountainheads arthur, Ayn Rand. While in the group people were not allowed to have different opinions than Ayn Rand or do anything without her blessing. Which is pretty much selling their souls to her.
I know I'm trolling, but I just can't stand the hypocrisy and stupidity of objectivism or Ayn Rand. Now if you disagree with my comment, then by all means please reply and explain in a logical and thought out manner why you think I am wrong. I want to hear why people fallow Ayn Rand and objectivism and I promise to listen.
